AMHERST – More snow is expected to fall in the Amherst area early next week.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Cumberland County about a potential storm.

A winter storm likely to impact the province Sunday night and Monday with snow, rain and strong winds.

A winter storm is expected to develop over the U.S. Eastern Seaboard late Sunday and track northeastward passing near Southwestern Nova Scotia Monday morning. This system has the potential to bring significant snow and/or rain and strong winds to Nova Scotia beginning Sunday night and Monday.

As this weather system has yet to form, there are still many factors that could influence its track and intensity before it arrives in our region. Even a slight change in track would have a major impact on the type and amount of precipitation received in any area of Nova Scotia.

Environment Canada will continue to monitor the development of this weather system providing updates as new information becomes available.

Please monitor the latest forecasts and warnings from Environment Canada at www.weatheroffice.gc.ca.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
