Stalled project included in 2014-15 plan
SPRINGHILL – Cumberland South MLA Jamie Baillie says families in River Hebert have a lot to be proud of with news renovations to River Hebert District School are proceeding.
The government released its Capital Plan for 2014-15 on Monday. The River Hebert District School is scheduled to get the renovations and repairs it needs, which is another important step to getting the new school done.
“Students, parents and teachers in the River Hebert area have been told time and time again that their school would receive much needed renovations but nothing had been done,” said Baillie. “Today, they can be proud of the hard work they have done to see this project to fruition. The funding has been allocated, the tender has been awarded, the next step will be to get construction going.”
In addition to the school renovations, Highway 104 near Springhill will also see upgrades to the westbound lanes west of Exit 5 for about 3.5 kilometres. Baillie noted that while this is good news, more work still needs to be done on Cumberland County’s secondary and local roads.
