Truck blocked highway

AMHERST – For the second time in a week, a portion of the Cobequid Pass was closed to traffic following a mishap involving a tractor trailer.

Const. Travise Dow of the Cumberland RCMP said the eastbound lane of the highway was closed at Exit 7 at Thomson Station after a transport truck jackknifed on the road earlier this morning.

Eastbound traffic was being diverted through the Wentworth Valley.

The highway has since reopened.

Last week, motorists were stuck for several hours on the highway after trucks blocked both the east and westbound lanes during a fall storm. Rain turned to snow overnight and trucks became stuck near the toll plaza.

The eastbound lane was also the scene of a bizarre collision the night before involving four trucks that sent one person to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
