UPPER NAPPAN – The Emergency Measures Office is keeping an eye on rivers and streams as last night’s snowfall continues to melt.
“Right now the River Philip is high and there’s flooding in the baseball field in Oxford,” Cumberland County Emergency Measures Officer Jim Hannon said Wednesday afternoon. “That’s normal, so there’s no traffic restrictions to report at this time.
Outside of Amherst, runoff is raising water levels but flooding has yet to breach than banks.
Hannon was on the scene of the Cobequid Pass where a motor vehicle accident shut down eastbound traffic on the TransCanada Highway. RCMP worked throughout the night and the morning to clean up the situation and normal traffic resumed at 1:30 p.m.
