Aurora, was hit by a car

Aurora, was struck by a car earlier this week.

A Pictou County woman is putting a plea out for help from the community after she says her dog was hit by a car.

The dog needs femur and pelvic reconstruction, which will cost $4,000 – money the woman says her family just doesn’t have.

Colette Davidson’s dog Aurora, was hit earlier this week after her three-year-old son opened the house door and accidentally let the dog loose.

“When I got outside and starting calling her I saw two cars sitting and the men talking to each other.”

One man asked. Are you looking for your dog? Then cursing told her it was in the ditch.

“I ran to her and found her there sitting crooked and whining and scared,” Davidson said.   “I tried to comfort her and I asked the two men if they could help me get her out of the ditch and the first man said ‘um, no’.  I am crying my eyes out and I asked him ‘What about a little kindness here you hit my dog.’”

Instead of helping she said he only complained about the damage to his car.

Finally she was able to get some help from some people driving by to get the dog out of the ditch and from there they took her to a vet clinic, only to be told unless they had money they wouldn’t be able to do anything.

The New Glasgow Vet Clinic however was willing to look at the dog and took X-rays. They told her how bad the situation was and what would need to be done.

The reconstruction would need to be done at a Halifax veterinary hospital. But that won’t happen until they get the money.

Davidson hopes that someone can help. She is on disability she said and her husband is a student at NSCC so they just don’t have any extra money.

She said donations can be sent to the Fairview Animal Hospital in Halifax (902) 443-9385

Organizations: New Glasgow Vet Clinic, Fairview Animal Hospital

I donated today, and they were still $400 short, but wow, people are good. They told me that Aurora had her leg amputated and was going home. It does the heart good to help out our fellow man and our fellow furry animal friends. This is the true meaning of Christmas. Hoping Aurora and her family have a wonderful Christmas!

I am so sorry to hear about this lovely dog's ordeal. As for the jerk who did not bother to show any compassion for the woman or her beloved pet...hope a meteor hits your precious car, buddy ! Love and prayers to you and your owner, Aurora.

If you cannot get the operation done now. Instead of the dog suffering you should have it put down.
