Donna White, Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin and Jodi Strickland have your passports ready for this year’s Passport to Christmas in Downtown Amherst promotion, which this year has over 30 participating businesses.
The downtown business community launches its Passport to Christmas in Downtown Amherst promotion this week, offering patrons the opportunity to enhance their shopping experience at 31 different locations.
“This is our second year for the passport and once customers have shopped at 3 participating businesses they can put their passport in for a chance at the grand prize valued over $2,000,” Damaris Spa and Wellness Centre’s Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin said. “All of the businesses have contributed to the grand prize.”
Last year’s Passport to Christmas was a success, Smith-McCrossin said, and this year promises to be just as much fun for businesses and shoppers, with special promotions geared towards highlighting the promotion.
“We have three events coinciding with the passport: Black Friday on Friday, Nov. 29th, where businesses pick their own specials, huge deals, and some businesses will be opening early and closing later than usual; we’ll have our fourth and last Artisan Market of the year Saturday, Dec. 7th… and Community Spirit Day Saturday, Dec. 14th. It’s a chance for businesses to give back to the community by making a monetary donation to the food bank.”
Last year 5,000 passports were issued to the community and it was a lot of fun for stores, staff and customers.
“People loved it,” Donna White, owner of Buds to Blossoms Floral Boutique, said. “It was just great for the town.”
Passports are available at participating downtown businesses.
Draw for the grand prize will take place Wednesday, Dec. 18.
