Fire fighters hit the last hot spots with water after fire destroyed the middle section of a former barracks in Cornwallis Park.
Six fire departments responded to another fire in former barracks in Cornwallis Park.
A worker from the nearby factory called in the fire.
Bear River was paged out jut before 8 a.m. and found the upper story of empty barracks building fully engulfed in flame.
They asked were assisted by Smith’s Cove, Annapolis Royal and Digby, plus Lawrencetown and Brighton Barton both brought aerial ladders to the scene.
Fire fighters doused the fire from above with aerial ladders while interior attack teams chased hot spots through the upper story attic crawl spaces.
No one was in the building.
This is the second fire in one of the former barracks buildings in the last two months.
A shed burned 10 minutes down the road in Deep Brook just last week and another shed burnt in the residential part of the base earlier in the summer.
Bear River fire chief Darryl Jelfs says he doesn’t know if the string of fires is connected but today’s fire is definitely suspicious and under investigation.
