Maggie’s Place hosts Spook-A-Rama at Spring Street Academy

From left: Kenzie Crossman (Monster High), Kaelyn Gray (witch) and Mike Gray enjoy some treats Saturday at Maggie's Place annual Spook-A-Rama at Spring Street Academy. Over two hundred children and their families attended the event that included arts and crafts, an obstacle course, storytime and  trick or treating.

AMHERST-A good time was had by all Saturday morning at the Maggie’s Place Spook-A-Rama held in conjunction with Halloween at Spring Street Academy.

“I think we had more this year than we had last year,” stated Maggie’s Place Parent Education coordinator Karen LeBlanc, aka, Princess Fiona Shrek, on Saturday.

“We should hit about 200 kids,” she added. “Everyone is smiling and having a good time. And some of the costumes are really good,” she exclaimed. “You can see the thought that has been put into them.”  About 175 kids attended last year.

Prior to trick or treating, ghosts and treat bags were made, as well as marble rolled spider webs, ghost guts and witch’s brew. There was also an obstacle course.

Afterwards, children enjoyed story time while eating some of their treats.

I love Maggies Place and everything they do for the community BUT it's a shame that at Christmas when Maggies Place asks parents to bring their children to visit Seniors Homes to sing songs and color with the elderly clients, no more than 2-4 parents show up with their children. Amherst parents, its time to give back to Maggies Place! Karen and all the other staff put weeks of effor into the Halloween, Christmas and Easter events, why not show them you appreciate them by helping them out when they ask.
