Acres and Acres

FLEUR'S FIND COLUMN BY FLEUR MAINVILLE

They are no strangers to the Maritime music scene with their first album "All Nations" having been nominated for an East Coast Music Award for Recording of the Year. Their latest release is a product of living on the road together, philosophizing, and collaborating as only touring musicians can. Their fans are excited after Acres and Acres three-year touring stint to finally have Truth and Sky here!

Truth and Sky uses a variety of live recordings and studio tracks to create a sound full of character and atmosphere. David Scholten and Kris Pope are not only band mates but close friends, and this certainly shows in their song writing.

Acres and Acres are classified as an alternative folk group who have proved that over the last few years they continue to grow and add with their song writing. They formed in 2008 having also been members of alternative band Down with the Butterfly, but left to create more natural, organic music.

Truth and Sky adds strings to the album to create a richness that cannot be found anywhere else.  Pope and Scholten have begun to move away from the touring of the duo to inviting friends to help create and expand a more in-depth range of instrumentation to create a more dynamic show and sound. Truth and Sky is an album that will be around for many years to come and definitely worth a listen.
