After finishing second, Judi Giroux (back, centre) is surrounded by her campaign team at the Knights of Pythias hall on Robie Street in Amherst Tuesday night.

AMHERST – Judi Giroux said she was disappointed she wasn’t able to win a seat in the Nova Scotia Legislature as a Progressive Conservative but she is proud of her campaign team.

“I’m extremely pleased with the team I had supporting me every step of the way. They were the best team anyone could ever have.”

Giroux finished second to the Liberals Terry Farrell. She received 2,230 votes to Farrell’s 2,944.

She said we live in a democracy and the people have spoken.

“People were looking for a change and the Liberal wave came through.”

She isn’t sure what the future holds.

“My plan right now is to take time to think about my future.”

(The cutline says Knights of Pythias but should read Knights of Columbus Hall. Also, it should have specified that Judi Giroux is in the back row, centre.) Dave Mathieson - Amherst News
