SPRINGHILL – A lockdown at the Springhill Institution has come to an end after a week.
A press release from the Correctional Service of Canada on Tuesday morning said normal activities have resumed at the institution.
The institution, that houses more than 400 inmates, was placed in lockdown on Sept. 25 after officials received information of a possible security threat. The threat resulted in a health and safety matter and the prison was locked down while an "exceptional" search of the prison was conducted.
During the lockdown, inmates were restricted to their cells and all visits were cancelled.
Results of the search are unknown.
