Cumberland South incumbent MLA and Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative leader Jamie Baillie revealed in a Thursday evening press release that he was both relieved and excited about news that tenders have gone out for the construction of the new P-12 school in River Hebert.
AMHERST-Progressive Conservative leader and Cumberland South candidate Jamie Baillie was pleased to hear today the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal issued a tender for additions and repairs to River Hebert District School.
As MLA for Cumberland South, Baillie presented a petition to the provincial government, called repeatedly on the government to act, warned in August that residents had waited long enough and committed to having the school completed if elected premier.
“Today I’m both relieved and excited for the students of River Hebert and their families,” Baillie said. “This process took far too long and should have been completed a year ago. Finally the students and their families will get what they deserve.”
Baillie spoke highly of the River Hebert students, their families and the community for their persistence to get this project done, despite the inaction of the NDP government.
"Schools are the hub of a community and all students deserve fair treatment and a safe place to learn,” Baillie said. “To see this project finally moving forward is good news for the community of River Hebert.”
