Robin Gogan appointed to serve as N.S. Supreme court justice

SYDNEY — A Sydney lawyer has been appointed to serve as a Nova Scotia Supreme Court justice.

Robin Gogan, a lawyer with the Breton Law Group in Sydney, will replace Justice Cindy Bourgeois, who was transferred to Halifax.

Gogan received an arts degree from St. FX University and a law degree from Dalhousie Law School.

She was admitted to the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society in 1995.

Gogan has served as managing partner with the Breton Law Group since 2011.

She was also once a partner with Sampson McDougall and an associate at Anderson Nathanson.

Her main practice areas were civil litigation, family law, wills and estates, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution.

She is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Petroleum Foundation, the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

The appointment is effective immediately.
