The four people who hope to be the next MLA for Cumberland North will come together tonight to take part in a candidates forum at the Amherst Lions Club.

AMHERST – The four people who hope to be the next MLA for Cumberland North will come together tonight to take part in a candidates forum at the Amherst Lions Club.

The doors open at 6 p.m. with the forum beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Joining Liberal candidate Terry Farrell, Judi Giroux of the Progressive Conservatives and Brian Skabar of the NDP will be Green Party candidate Jason Blanch, who joined the race on Monday.

After brief introductions, the candidates will be asked questions by a panel including Amherst News managing editor Darrell Cole, Dave March of CKDH, Frank Likely from Tantramar Radio and Amherst and Area Chamber of Commerce president Gladys Coish.

The candidates will then be able to ask each other questions before the evening closes with a closing statement from Blanch, Farrell, Giroux and Skabar.

Another forum is planned for Monday, Sept. 30 at the St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church Hall in Pugwash.

An online forum is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 1 at cumberlandnewsnow.com, at which time the candidates will be answering questions in a live chat.
