Meet with community stakeholders at 10 a.m.
RIVER HEBERT – The deputy minister of education and transportation and infrastructure renewal will be in River Hebert Friday to talk to parents about the stalled school project.
Education Department spokeswoman Michelle Lucas confirmed Thursday at the Carole Olsen and Paul LaFleche, the deputy minister of transportation and Infrastructure renewal, will tour the school early today before meeting with parents and community stakeholders at 10 a.m. at the River Hebert branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
“The purpose of the visit is to not only tour the school, but to meet with parents and community members to reassure them of their commitment to finish the project and answer any questions they may have,” Lucas said,
The tour comes a week after Olsen announced the province is taking over management of the project from the Chignecto-Central Regional School and a few days after the community met at the legion to vent their frustrations at ongoing delays since the project was halted in January 2012 when tenders for the second phase of the project came in 45 per cent more than the $6 million budgeted.
