SOUTHAMPTON – Fire crews from Southampton, Parrsboro, River Hebert and Springhill were called to an early morning structure fire in Southampton this morning. Shortly after 5 a.m. the fire was reported. No one was injured in the fire, but a family is now displaced.

UPDATE:  A couple is temporarily homeless after a pre-dawn fire today gutted a bungalow along a rural highway near Southampton, Nova Scotia, about 20 kilometres south of Amherst.
The man and woman were not injured. They're staying with relatives for now and disaster volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross are helping with clothing and other emergency purchases.
