Remnants of tropical storm Gabrielle soak two Newfoundland towns

COW HEAD, N.L. — Two communities in western Newfoundland are drying out after receiving a weekend drenching from the remnants of tropical storm Gabrielle.

The tropical depression dumped almost 75 millimetres of rain on parts in Cow Head and Englee.

Both communities are on the Northern Peninsula.

On the south coast, the Harbour Breton area received about 50 millimetres of rain.
