NORTH SYDNEY â€” The emergency department at the Northside General Hospital in North Sydney is now temporarily closed until further notice because it is over capacity.

Anyone needing emergency services is asked to call 911, or go to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.
Anyone with a non-urgent health issue is asked to call healthlink 811 and speak with a registered nurse.
The temporary closure is necessary because the emergency department is over capacity due to an increase in the number of patients currently registered and being treated in the department.
The district will provide an update when the emergency department in North Sydney is scheduled to reopen.
