Victim in Highway 125 crash identified

SYDNEY — A 23-year-old Sydney Mines man has been identified as the victim of fatal two-vehicle accident Thursday on Highway 125 in Sydney River.

RCMP Cape Breton Traffic Services said Friday the driver of the car involved was Christopher Anthony Rudnicki.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:25 a.m. Thursday near exit six. A preliminary investigation has concluded that a car traveling eastbound collided with a dump truck traveling westbound. After impact, the truck landed on its side.

Rudnicki was pronounced dead in hospital. The driver of the truck was also taken to hospital with injuries described as serious.
