TRURO – The annual Walk for ALS is being held this weekend at Victoria Park.
The event gets underway Saturday at 10 a.m. near the band shell. Check-ins start at 10 a.m.
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a fatal disease which causes people living with it to become progressively more paralyzed. About 80 per cent of people who have ALS die within the first five years of diagnosis.
About 3,000 people across Canada suffer from ALS and three die each day.
