Man seriously hurt when vehicle crashes into home after police chase

HALIFAX - A 45-year-old Halifax man is in hospital with serious injuries after a vehicle crashed into a home after a chase ended with police early Monday morning.


Police say just after 3 a.m. officers tried to stop a vehicle for failing to stop for a red light at the intersection of Bayers Road and Connaught Street.

A chase ensued with police saying the vehicle drove recklessly, and reached speeds of up to 80 kilometres per hour.

Police eventually lost sight of the vehicle, but two minutes later, received a report of it crashing into a residence on George Dauphinee Avenue.

The man’s injuries aren’t life-threatening and he’s currently in custody with officers at the QEII hospital.

He will be facing several charges including flight from police.
