TANTALLON - Police here have charged two men after the RCMP say a car full of marijuana plants was found during a traffic stop on Prospect Road.

The marijuana allegedly found in the car.

Police say they pulled the car over just after 10 p.m. Sunday because it had no headlights on. When the officer walked up to the Toyota Corolla, it was allegedly overcrowded with 20 marijuana plants, which took up the other front seat, and the two rear seats.

A passenger was then located in the car’s trunk, as police believe he was there to make room for the plants.

A 23-year-old man from Brookside and a 24-year-old man from Hatchet Lake are each charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and cultivation. They will appear in Halifax provincial court on Oct. 30.
