Parade set for Saturday

The 95th Cumberland County Exhibition will hold its parade on Saturday with the theme 'Remember When.'

OXFORD – Winston Allen has been named the marshal of the Cumberland County Exhibition parade in Oxford on Saturday.

The parade, on the final day of the exhibition, is a great way to end a week of family fun and organizers are looking forward to community support for the agricultural community and the volunteers who work tirelessly to make the exhibition successful.

This year’s parade has the theme ‘Remember When’ and allows for a variety of floats and entries related to bygone days.

The parade committee chose the theme to cover all aspects of Cumberland County’s communities as people remember them. A float may depict family life and related activities such as the way people lived and dressed.

Floats may also reflect farming or business history and committee members are encouraging entries based on whatever memories people want to share.

Organizers are encouraging all communities in Cumberland County to participate.

The parade begins at 1 p.m. with participants asked to line up on Foundry Street starting at 12:30 p.m.

For more information, or entry forms, please contact the exhibition office at 447-3285.
