Summer Reading Club celebrate another successful year

AMHERST – Dr. Seuss once said “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

Forty participants from Grades Primary to 6 took part in this year’s Summer Reading Club, sponsored by TD. The program focuses on the importance of literacy for the up-and-coming generation.

“The kids choose a 12 or 24 hour reading goal for the summer,” said Margaret Skabar, a summer reading co-ordinator.

The program is incentive based, so for every hour the participant reads, a corresponding prize is awarded to them.

In celebration of the program’s success and more importantly the successful completion of the participants reading goals, the co-ordinators surprised the kids with a pirate themed wrap up party.
