This Saturday, Aug. 24. members of the Halifax Regional Police Association will compete against the Halifax Professional Firefighters Association in a friendly slow-pitch softball game on the Halifax Common.
The game, which is in its second year, is designed to allow citizens to meet emergency services personnel in a fun, positive environment and to raise much needed funds for local charities.
Admission is free, however donations for Shelter Nova Scotia and The Aids Coalition of Nova Scotia will be accepted at the gate.
The event includes a barbeque and visits from Sparky and Blue, the HRM Fire and Police mascots, as well as police horse Cruise. The teams, captained by Lt. Jamie Graven and Cst. Brad Benjamin, will be coached by Fire Chief Doug Trussler and Police Chief Jean-Michel Blais.
The game takes place between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the Canada Games Diamond, Halifax Common field #9.
