POINTE-VERTE, N.B. — Search and rescue crews are hunting for a missing kayaker after his boat was located off the northern coast of New Brunswick.
RCMP say authorities were notified Saturday afternoon after the man — whose age and name have not been released — failed to return home following a morning paddle in the Baie des Chaleurs.
The Mounties say he left from Pointe-Verte, about 25 kilometres north of Bathurst.
Local police turned the investigation over to the RCMP after they found the man’s kayak floating in the water.
RCMP say multiple helicopters and boats have been called in to assist ground crews in the search and rescue effort.
