CHARLOTTETOWN - Police have charged two young Charlottetown men with damage to property in relation to an Anne of Green Gables marketing sign.
Charlottetown Police Services charged two 23-year-old men. Both of the men have been issued a summons to appear in court on September 12.
Over the weekend, a thick metal cutout of Anne promoting the musical at the Confederation Centre of the Arts was beheaded. The cutout was on display at the entrance to Victoria Row where Richmond Street intersects Queen Street.
Last Thursday, the entire $1,100 steel Anne cutout was pried loose and stolen. The thief was caught, and Anne was reinstalled at a cost of $300. Following the weekend beheading, the remainder of the cutout was taken down by Confederation Centre staff.
