Dr. Andrea Faryniuk to join surgical staff in mid-August

The Cumberland Health Authority has recruited a new surgeon for the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

AMHERST – The Cumberland Health Authority has a new surgeon.

Dr. Andrea Faryniuk will begin her practice at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center in mid-Ausut.

Heath authority CEO Bruce Quigley said Faryniuk will be a valued addition to the hospital.

“It is exciting that we have been successful in attracting a young, newly-trained surgeon to come to our district,” Quigley said. “It clearly demonstrates our commitment and success in building high quality specialty services to served the citizens of Cumberland County.”

Originally from Halifax, Faryniuk just completed her general surgery residency at the University of Manitoba and as part of that training she did a clinical rotation at the Cumberland hospital with preceptor Dr. Najeeb Kadir, who last week was named the health authority’s new medical chief of staff.

Faryniuk is a graduate of the Dalhousie University Medical School and received a bachelor of arts in science in microbiology and immunology, also from Dalhousie.

She will be joining Kadir and Dr. Alan MacDonald, Dr. Nabil Nadir and Dr. Paul Van Boxel as members of the surgical team at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
