Replacing Dr. Celina White
Dr. Najeeb Kadir is the new medical chief of staff for the Cumberland Health Authority.
AMHERST – The Cumberland Health Authority has a new medical chief of staff.
Health authority CEO Bruce Quigley announced Thursday that Dr. Najeeb Kadir has been appointed district chief of staff effective Aug. 1.
The appointment is on a six-month term basis.
Quigley said is pleased that Dr. Kadir has agreed to take on this position.
“Dr. Kadir is a skilled and experienced surgeon who has consistently focused on quality patient care and he will undoubtedly bring this same expertise to his new role,” Quigley said. “There too is an advantage in having a current member of the medical staff who is familiar with other physicians and district operations come forward to assume this very important position.”
Kadir is replacing Dr. Celina White, who recently resigned from her position as chief of staff.
White, who practiced medicine in Amherst for 23 years, announced in May that she was leaving the position to pursue other interests. She held the job for two years, replacing Dr. David Gass who retired in August 2010 after four years as chief of staff.
Kadir has been practicing as a general surgeon in Cumberland County since 2008 and has been serving as chief of peri-operative services for the past two years.
He is a graduate of the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad. He is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, U.K.
