HALIFAX – A Pugwash doctor is answering to a complaint before the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
A notice on the college’s website says its hearing committee is examining a complaint that was lodged against Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashoranti.
The hearing began Tuesday and is scheduled to continue until Thursday.
The college is not releasing any information about the complaints that were received on Aug. 10, 2010 and Aug. 12, 2011.
Fashoranti was granted an absolute discharge in 2012 after pleading guilty to a charge of assault.
In 2011, he was found not guilty of sexual assault by a Nova Scotia Supreme Court jury following an alleged incident at All Saints Hospital in Springhill in 2010.
The hearing committee is a quasi-judicial panel that includes both physicians and members of the public. Hearings are normally open to the public, although the committee can close the proceedings if it’s requested by one of the parties.
