Joggins Fossil Institute celebrates five-year anniversary of UNESCO World Heritage site inscription

Ninety-one-year-old fossil collector, Don Reid (centre) shows off a fossilized claw or tooth to Mari Chamberlain (left) and Iren Haugen (right) of Norway.

JOGGINS - Upwards of 40 people from across the region and abroad visited the Joggins Fossil Cliffs to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the centre and their designation as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage site.

Reid, who grew up collecting fossils, said it’s great to see everyone enjoying themselves celebrating a significant milestone for the centre.

“It’s dream come true,” he said.
