AMHERST – The Cumberland Cancer Assistance fund of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation received a very generous donation from the Antigonish Farmers’ Mutual Insurance Company.
AFM General Manager Bill Chisholm and his colleagues have pledged to donate $20,000 over five years to support the cancer program in Cumberland. Antigonish Farmers’ Mutual believes in supporting the communities where their members reside and they do so in many ways, including financial contributions to worthwhile causes.
Donations to Cumberland Cancer Assistance directly support cancer patients who are facing significant financial pressure as a result of the impact of the illness. The fund provides a helping hand with things like transportation for treatment, food and nutritional assistance, and other areas as identified by the Cumberland Health Authority’s cancer navigator as being required to maintain the health of the cancer patient.
“We are so grateful that Antigonish Farmer’s Mutual has recognized the important work that we are doing for Cancer patients in Cumberland,” said Gwen Kerr, managing director of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation. “Their donation will provide much needed support and comfort for patients and their families.”
