Amherst location highest in Nova Scotia
Amherst McDonald's raised the most of Nova Scotia's McDonald's restaurants during McHappy Day on Wednesday.
AMHERST – McDonald’s in Amherst, Sackville and Shediac had a record showing during the 20th McHappy Day on Wednesday.
Store owner Danny Moore said $10,300 was raised at the three McDonald’s locations during the day in support of the Ronald McDonald House Children’s Charity.
“We had a record showing, the best we’ve ever had,” Moore said Thursday. “We were busy all day. We raised $4,300 in Amherst alone.”
The money raised in Amherst was the highest amount among 45 locations in Nova Scotia.
The day saw $1 from the sale of every Big Mac sandwich, Happy Meal and hot beverage go to support Ronald McDonald House.
Nationally, $3.9 million was raised, bringing the contribution so far this year to more than $8 million.
A number of dignitaries came together to volunteer their time behind the counter and at the drive-thru while both Chappy the Clown and the Balance King, Doug McManaman, also performed.
