Amherst Police issued a seven-day licence suspension after a traffic stop on Park Street over the weekend.
Waycobah RCMP are asking for help identifying a man who allegedly attempted to abduct a 27-year-old Waycobah woman.
On Tuesday May 7th, 2013, at around 5:00 p.m., a lone female driving on Portage Road in Orangedale was flagged down for assistance by a man standing next to his car on the side of the road. She stopped to assist him and the man told her he was having car trouble, that his car was over heating, and he asked to use her cell phone to call someone to come pick him up. The woman got her cell phone and handed the phone over to him. The man then grabbed the woman by the wrist and tried to pull her into his vehicle. The female was able to break free and get back into her own vehicle, drive away and called police. The female suffered bruising to her wrist.
The suspect is described as a white male, early to mid 50's, salt & pepper hair, curly moustache, hairy arms, wrinkles around his dark colored eyes and big ears. The victim also noticed that the suspect appeared to be strong, had rough hands and she could smell a strong odor of exhaust coming from his clothing. He was wearing light blue jeans and a dark blue or black shirt and possibly white sneakers. The suspect vehicle is described as an older style 4-door Chevrolet Cavalier, dark blue or black in color.
The RCMP would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or have information on the suspect and vehicle in question. Anyone with information is asked to contact Waycobah Detachment at 902-756-3371 or by contacting the Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), text TIP202 + your message to 'CRIMES' (274637) or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
