AMHERST – Ever play one of those games where you had to guess the number of jelly beans in a bottle or marbles in a jar?
For the third consecutive year, Tantramar Chev Buick GMC Ltd. is teaming up with organizers of the Highland Fling to fill a car with balloons and let people attending Saturday’s annual hospital auxiliary fundraiser guess how many balloons a new Chevy Spark can hold.
“It’s kind of a fun, visual thing,” Fling co-convenor Vicki Daley said. “It will be pretty colourful.”
Those attending the Fling will be able to purchase tickets to guess on the number of balloons in the car.
The winner will receive a family pizza and pool party, compliments of Super 8 Motels.
“It’s really a great family prize and that’s what the Fling is all about, families,” Daley said.
The hardest part, Daley said will be blowing up the balloons to stuff in the car. She expects to get an air compressor to do the job. Otherwise, she said, her husband and other auxiliary supporters will be using a lot of wind.
Along with providing the car that’s being used to house the balloons, Tantramar Chev Buick GMC is making a $500 donation to the Highland Fling.
Company president Don Furlong said he’s happy to help the Highland Fling and understand the importance of raising money for the Cumberland Health Care Auxiliary.
“My mom was very active in the auxiliary for many years and I know first hand how hard the auxiliary works to raise money to purchase medical equipment for our hospital,” Furlong said. “It’s also a way for us to give something back to our community and show our support for the work that goes on at the hospital.”
