Four youth in custody after stolen vehicle flees Windsor

WINDSOR – Four youth, all in their teens, are in custody pending charges are fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle.

A 2009 Nissan Versa was reported stolen from a residence in Bedford on the morning of April 26. Early Sunday morning, a 2006 Ford Expedition was reported stolen from a Lower Sackville residence.

Windsor RCMP located the stolen car in the parking lot near Highway 101. No one was in the vehicle at the time.

The suspects – females aged 13 and 15 from Sackville, and Halifax males aged 15 and 18 – were spotted in the stolen SUV and rammed a police car as they tried to get away. The police vehicle sustained moderate damage while the suspects in the SUV fled from police.

At approximately 3 a.m. Sunday, Windsor RCMP pursued the stolen vehicle east on Highway 101. Sackville RCMP and Halifax Regional Police officers in Bedford assisted and deployed a spike belt.

The suspects continued onto the Bedford Highway and then Dartmouth Road where the vehicle crashed into a signpost. The four suspects then fled on foot.

With the assistance of the HRP service dog, all four suspects were located and arrested.
