Youth charged in North Preston shooting outside community hall

HALIFAX - A 16-year-old male is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Thursday afternoon to face charges related to a shooting outside a North Preston community hall.

Members of the RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigative Section (GIS) and Guns and Gangs Unit arrested the teen shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday. He faces several charges, including attempted murder and numerous firearms-related offences.   On April 15, at approximately 5 p.m., RCMP responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting outside the North Preston Community Hall. The victim, 15, was transported to the IWK Hospital. He remains in hospital in stable condition.   Police are receiving cooperation from the public in this matter. Investigators are also asking anyone with information on this shooting to come forward to their local RCMP detachment, Halifax Regional Police or by contacting the Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
