Prince Edward Island community to honour Canadian folk legend Stompin’ Tom
TIGNISH, P.E.I. — Planning is underway for a tribute night to Stompin’ Tom Connors in Tignish, P.E.I.
The tribute will be held at the Tignish Legion on May 4.
Tignish is close to the singing legend’s boyhood home of Skinner’s Pond.
Several people from Skinner’s Pond and the surrounding area are helping to plan the special tribute.
The Canadian country-folk icon died in March at age 77.
The event will follow Stompin’ Tom’s wishes that any donations received in his name go to food banks.
Organizers of the Stompin’ Tom Tribute Night will be accepting cash and non-perishable food donations in lieu of an admission price and will donate all of the proceeds to the West Prince Caring Cupboard.
