Ramblers in Truro to begin second round on Tuesday
The Truro Bearcats defeated the Weeks Crushers 3-1 on Saturday to claim their best-of-seven Eastlink Division semifinal series in seven games. The win sets up a second-round matchup with the Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers on Tuesday in Truro.
TRURO – The Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers now know who their second-round playoff opponent is going to be.
Brandon Pye had two goals as the Truro Bearcats defeated the Pictou County Weeks Crushers 3-1 in the seventh game of their best-of-seven Eastlink Division semifinal series.
It's believed the divisional final series could start Monday or Tuesday in Truro, with Game 2 at the Amherst Stadium on Wednesday.
The Ramblers claimed their divisional semifinal series on Thursday with a 2-0 win over the Yarmouth Mariners in Game 6. Mitch O'Neill and Kody Orr, into an empty net, scored third period goals for the Ramblers after taking Game 5 in double overtime in Yarmouth last Tuesday.
The Crushers forced a seventh game in their series with a 4-2 win over Truro in New Glasgow on Thursday.
Truro opened the scoring before 3,090 fans at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre 7:19 into the first period. Kyle Morrison and Jordan Coccimigilio adding assists on the power play goal that came just over a minute after Crushers' forward Andrew Graham was sent off for slashing.
The Crushers tied the game just 49 seconds into the second period when Jordan Moore scored from Garrett Holmes and Nick Parker, but Pye's second goal of the game at 7:16 proved to be the winner. Cal Gloade and Coccimigilio added assists.
Kyle Morrison scored into an empty net with seven seconds to play. Travis Moore and Patrick Downe added assists.
