Highlights from Springhill’s town council meeting

SPRINGHILL – Next year marks the 25th anniversary of the Anne Murray Centre and the 125th anniversary of the Town of Springhill, and plans are beginning now to male it a year to remember.

During Springhill’s regular council meeting, Coun. Jack MacDonald reminded the anniversaries are approaching and plans are beginning, while in Leisure Services Director Pam Adam’s report to council, she introduces the idea of the community hosting its first sports award and hall of fame dinner.

“The Town of Springhill has never hosted such an event which would provide the opportunity to celebrate local achievements… the first event could take place next spring and could coincide with Springhill’s 125 year celebration,” Adams reported.

In the interim, it’s the 24th anniversary of the Anne Murray Centre and to support the coming tourism season, a prize of golf for two at Northumberland Links with Anne is being auctioned until March 31 on eBay via the link Golf with Anne.
