AMHERST – A forgotten contest entry turned into $10,000 for a River Hebert couple Thursday.

The TD Bank ran a nation Visa contest, offering to enter participants’ names if they used their Visa. For Ken and Kelly Roberts, it was so simple Ken had forgotten they entered.

“Kelly entered my name when she received the notice, so I used it a few times and forgot about it,” Ken said after receiving his winnings.

It wasn’t until later the Roberts learned they were one of the major prize winners and a small celebration awaited them at the TD Bank branch in Amherst. Using a ceremonial, over sized cheque for the presentation, the Roberts made their way over to the counter to deposit the smaller, more official cheque and Ken already had plans for both.

“I’m going to build a garage, my own little man cave,” he said. “This [the ceremonial cheque] is going right on the wall.”
