Up to 20 centimetres forecast to fall on Cumberland County

AMHERST – Wednesday may be the first day of spring, but the weather will be anything but springlike.

A snowfall warning is in effect for Cumberland County with up to 20 centimetres expected overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday.

A low pressure system developing south of Long Island will push slowly northeastward into the Gulf of Maine and then track over Nova Scotia on Wednesday.

Five to 10 centimetres is forecast to fall overnight with an additional five to 10 on Wednesday.

Winds are forecast to gust out of the east to 50 km/h on Wednesday.

Temperatures are expected to rise to 3 C by afternoon with a changeover to rain showers.

More snow is forecast for Friday.
