OXFORD – Following heavy rains and warm Les Suetes-winds last night, many communities are dealing with flooding issue and clean up this morning.

In Oxford, the ball field on Water Street has been barricaded and town officials are keeping an eye on flooding on Main Street.

At this point, however, there’s no need to divert traffic but the town is prepared to react.

“It came up rather quickly this morning,” town Chief Administrative Officer Darrell White said. “Hopefully it will go down soon. It’s the first in the last two or three years I’ve seen it this high.”

Two rivers converge in Oxford’s downtown centre, creating the potential for Spring flooding. While some homeowners are contending with flooding at home, the town will monitor water levels throughout the day, White said.
