AMHERST – The Palliative Care Fund of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation has received a $13,023 donation from the fun night held Feb. 15 in memory of Tim LeFurgey.

“This would have been Tim’s 40th birthday,” LeFurgey’s sister, Terri-Lynn Lewis, said. “Raising this much money is absolutely overwhelming. I’m over the moon.”

Since its inception in 2009, the memorial event has raised $34,801 for palliative care.

Gwen Kerr, managing director of the health care foundation, said the palliative care team is so appreciative for the support since it helps them continue to provide the care and comfort that is so important to families facing the most difficult time of their lives.

“We are so incredibly grateful to Terri-Lynn, her family and friends, all of whom put so much time and effort into honouring Tim and providing support for others in need. The work they do helps us to provide medical equipment, nutritional supplements, palliative education and training, and help with individual patient requests that can’t otherwise be funded.”

Donations to the Palliative Care Fund can be made at the foundation office at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, by calling 667-5400 Ext. 6210 or by visiting the website www.chcfoundation.com.
