AMHERST – The Amherst Lions penny campaign for the Highland Fling has already seen more than 50 pounds of pennies and other coins donated.

The Lions Club has set up collection jugs at Highland Market, Snow White Laundry and Mike’s Drive Thru for the next two weeks.

There are also jugs at Home Hardware on Spring Street and the Amherst Lions Club.

All the money collected will go to support the Cumberland Health Care Auxiliary’s Highland Fling that raises money for the purchase of medical equipment for the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

This is the 31st year for the Fling that takes place over the Mother’s Day weekend at the Amherst Curling Club.
