SPRINGHILL – The Springhill Institution has been in lockdown on Wednesday while a search of the facility is completed.
The search was a result of contraband recovered during a routine search of the medium-security prison.
The lockdown will remain in effect until the search is completed. Visits have been suspended while the lockdown is taking place.
The Correctional Service of Canada is committed to preventing contraband from entering its institutions. Its efforts contribute toward ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and inmates.
CSC also works with police to take action against those who attempt to have contraband brought into its institutions.
