AMHERST – An Amherst residential care facility has closed its doors to visitors because of an outbreak of a gastro-intestinal illness.
Ellen Myatt of Victoria Manor said 15 of the home’s 37 residents have experienced systems related to the illness including vomiting and diarrhea.
“There have been no new cases today and the residents that have been sick are recovering,” Myatt said. “As a precaution, though, we have decided to close the facility to visitors until Monday.”
Myatt said the home has been in contact with Public Health about precautions.
