Operation HAKON has led to arrests in two Cape Breton counties — Victoria and Inverness — along with Antigonish County on the mainland. More than 130 charges have been filed.
“Reducing crime is one of our provincial policing priorities and whenever we can disrupt harmful drug trafficking and drug abuse we are having a direct impact on spin-off criminal activity that is occurring in our communities,” said RCMP District Policing Officer for Northeast Nova Scotia, Supt. Darrell Beaton.
Among the items seized by police include 25 kilograms of marihuana; 1.5 kg of cocaine; 1 kg of hash oil; 1 kg of hash; and more than 100 marijuana plants.
Also seized were 17 firearms and related weapons including body armour, a AK47 assault rifle; a .22-calibre handgun; five, .22-calibre rifles; five, 12-gauge shot guns and three, 410-gauge shot guns.
Also seized were a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee; a 2005 Black BMW M3; a 2012 Dodge Ram Laramie Longhorn Crew Cab; a 2010 Dodge Ram Truck, 2500 series; a 2008 Pontiac G-6; a 2007 Buick Allure; and a 2012 Rotax, 800R series Skidoo
As for cash proceeds, RCMP seized some $55,000.
