A 24-year-old man remains in hospital with life threatening injuries after a late afternoon shooting in Dartmouth on Monday.
Police were called to the area of Primrose Street and Pinecrast Drive after a fight broke out between a group of males in the backyard of a home at about 5:20 p.m.
The victim was shot several times, police say, and ran to an address on nearby Jackson Road where officers located him.
“It was multiple,” Halifax Regional Police Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs said as to how many shots were fired. “We’ll have a better idea when forensics investigators are done over there.”
The victim was rushed to hospital by paramedics and McCoombs said late Monday night they were getting different reports to how many people were involved in the altercation in the backyard.
On Tuesday morning, police described the shooter as a black male in his 20s and about five foot eight. He was said to wearing a navy blue hoodie and black pants.
