UPPER NAPPAN – A community mailbox that was the source of conflict between a local farmer and Canada Post has been moved.

The community mailbox was initially placed in a vacant lot on Hwy 2 beside D&D Auto. The principle entrance to the vacant lot was on land owned by farmer Doug Bacon. Bacon chose to blockade the entrance with hay bales.

Now the community mailbox has been uprooted and moved down the road to the Pied Piper Motel.

“Just before the holidays,” said motel owner Gloria Stewart, when asked when the site was installed.

Stewart said they receive no payment for supplying the location, but were asked if it would be inconvenient.

“They keep it plowed out,” she said.

Stewart said she is happy with the arrangement.

Doug Bacon could not be immediately reached by phone. Canada Post did not immediately respond to a phone message asking for comment.
